Natural and/or protective oxidation is a process to which aluminium and aluminium alloys can be submitted to turn them into their corresponding aluminium oxides - ensuring corrosion protection and obtaining aesthetically pleasant surfaces without negatively impacting wear resistance.

Natural oxidation is silver coloured; black, red, blue, gold, green and orange pigments can be used to obtain different colours.

However, aluminium alloys cannot be coloured if their silicon content exceeds 7%, because the oxide is then very dark-coloured and the only possible colour is therefore black. We specialise in oxidation processes where various levels of protection are required to ensure the best final oxide results.
